Boasting one of the most scenic fun run routes, the Dover Fun Run takes runners along the foreshore of Port Esperance, with stunning views of the bay and the iconic Adamsons Peak.
The aim of the event is to raise money for the Royal Hobart Hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
There are three events to suit everyone’s capability:
- Tassal 10 Fun Run – iconic run at Dover. Suitable for ages 12 years and over
- 5km Fun Run – new to this year’s event
- Annabelle’s 2km Run – kids aged 1 year to 12 years love this fun 2km event

Event Background
The Dover Fun Run (Tassal Ten and Annabelle’s Run) was born out of a long-standing desire to give back to the community, in thanks for the wonderful support for the Skinner family in their time of need.
Little Annabelle was just 17 months old when she was involved in a freak accident resulting in a horrific head injury. Annabelle and her family spent anxious weeks by her side in Hobart’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. With expert care and attention, Annabelle made a full recovery and is now a happy healthy 8 year old.
At the time of her injury, Annabelle’s parents Gemma and John became very aware of the pressures that the Hobart PICU faced, and they began to toy with the idea of holding a community Fun Run to support the Paediatric Unit. After 4 years, they were finally able to make it happen with the support of local community group, Far South Future and many generous volunteers.
The first Dover Fun Run was held in 2019, and attracted 250 runners, raising $7,072 for the PICU. Despite COVID challenges we’ve managed to make the Fun Run an annual event – our third event in 2021 was again well attended by runners and families from all over Tasmania.
Dover Fun Run – 5 November 2023, will be our fourth event, and this year we excitedly announce the addition of a 5km option!
