Cygnet Yoga Studio is an Iyengar Yoga Studio run by Juanita Brokas, offering Beginners to Level 2 classes, Over 50’s and Pranayama classes. Differing levels allow the student to work within their own degree of experience. Beginners courses assume little to no prior knowledge and provide a base from which to continue your yoga practice.
Iyengar yoga concentrates on correct alignment within the poses to allow the muscles to engage and protect the joints. This is great for protecting existing injuries and conditions, as well as helping to prevent the occurrence of new ones. Poses are held to gradually increase strength as well as flexibility, and allows time for the mind to concentrate on what is happening in each posture.
Each week the sequences will be different, allowing the student to experience a range of different postures and combinations of poses. Iyengar Yoga teachers are required to complete years of rigorous training before sitting for assessment to become a teacher. They are then required to continue professional development with senior teachers each year. Your Iyengar Yoga teacher will instruct you throughout the class to help focus your mind and body. Juanita has been practicing since 1999, and has been teaching since 2004.
